Any insight on cost per user?

Re: [asterisk-biz] White Label Internet Fax Service

I'm presently using viteity for this.  Look at their vfax option.  clients login to a unbranded website www.viewmyfax.com  to send/recieve faxes and Manage their account.  Faxes are also forwarded to one or more email addresses.  Faxes can also be sent via email or software they provide.

I still think even for that purpose it sucks goat nad. Go buy a radio, TV,
magazine, newspaper or web ad. We (Canada) thankfully do not get campaign
statements through the telephone, but we do get annoying "Can MP/MPP Foo
expect your support in this election?" style telemarketing done by
volunteers.

Yes, reminders of this nature are quite possibly the least obtrusive of all
applications. Still, I prefer SMS or email reminders to a telephone call.
As the OP said, when I pick up the phone, I expect there to be a human being
on the other side.

Re: [asterisk-biz] Opinions requested: message blasting

Chris - I think it depends on the usage scenario....here in the states,
automated outbound messaging is a popular tactic amongst political
candidates to deliver campaign statements and GOTV messaging to
registered voters.

In the mid 90's it was used as a telemarketing lead gen tool, but has
decreased in popularity due to DNC regulations in the states.

It's also a great tool for "value added" services like appointment
reminders, school related notifications, group related notifications,
service reminders, etc. As a lead generation tool IMO its effectiveness
is limited, and it is generally regarded in a similar manner as spam.

Greetings list,

I've seen a lot of posts over the last couple of years on both -users
and -biz with people requesting help with "message blasting" setups -
that is to say, asterisk dials a number, waits for an answer, then plays
a pre-recorded message.

Everyone I've ever spoken to about this here in the UK finds it
thoroughly offensive. If they answer the phone, they expect to find a
human being at the other end. Systems like this seem to draw far more
ire from people than even multi-level IVR systems (which aren't exactly
popular either).

I'm curious as to list members' views on the topic. Do your clients find
message blasting a valuable business tool? Do they get much negative
feedback from recipients?

I'm also curious as to whether there's a demographic split in
recipients' attitudes - so if you do reply, please post what country
you're commenting on.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Chris

Subject: [asterisk-biz] AMD Tweaking

Out of curiosity, has anyone made enhancements or modifications to the
AMD portion of their Asterisk setup? We currently run a service that
places calls for businesses and are running into issues where when their

users answer the phone, they may have to wait 8, 10, 20 seconds before
the message begins to play, also we're running into the problem where
the voicemail of some major cell carriers like alltell and sprint arent
being detected and are being handled as a live answer.

It obviously varies from phone to phone and we realize there's no way to

get it 100% for everyone. Perhaps the best way to handle it is to have
a rapid detect version and a more accurate detect version and give each
business the choice. We were wondering what the best settings for such
a setup would be. Currently, we run AMD with the following:
3500|1500|300|5000|120|50|5|256 followed by a waitforsilence with the
following: 2000|1.

While we know it isn't going to work perfectly we want to at least get
it working correctly so it leaves messages on all major cell phone
providers. If there is a company who is very knowledgeable in AMD we'd
be very interested in paying you to help us create the best possible
solution.

We are open to any suggestions or advice on this one as we've tried
tweaking the values and all that seems to accomplish is an improvement
on one phone and a backstep on another. Thanks!!
