I think most experienced *nix administrators can handle their own IPTables, OpenVPN, and whatever else.
The main problem is Digium/Switchvox markets these systems as plug everything in and forget about it. Installers who have not dealt with Linux and don't care what runs under the hood of a phone system they are selling these and don't know how to setup IPTables, OpenVPN, etc.
Hopefully Digium will make some changes to the platform to better secure these systems out of the box and distribute security documentation for the installers.
