Re: [asterisk-biz] CraigsList PVA & VoIP

They are most likely looking up the TN in LIDB.  Since its so easy to buy a DID online anymore and spoof caller id they are probably trying to make sure this isnt happening because of all the fraud and whatnot on craigslist.

From Wikipedia:
LIDB
is an acronym for Line Information DataBase, which is used by traditional telephone companies to store and retrieve Caller ID records. Local phone switches, also known as Class 5 switches, use SS7 signaling protocol to query these centralized databases and pass this information during call set up.

Call me curious, but I've read Craig's List won't PVA (Phone Verified Accounts) VoIP and certain CLEC DID's.
I'm wondering how they could know for sure the number was one of these. Quick search I find nothing that
might provide a reliable method for test a number before dialing it - any ideas?
