You will reap what you sow.

A consortium member just trying to get a discount on hardware, unless
moving a good deal of hardware, will be terminated from the
consortium. If you are moving a good deal of hardware, you will be
helping others in the consortium, so you can stay, but don't expect
leads unless you are giving them out.

I actually setup seven privately owned self storage companies like
this, so I know a bit about stumbling blocks, and other challenges, as
well as the fact that when these small self storage companies were
represented as a single, much larger entity, their sales skyrocketed.
