I concur that it is the status quo, at least for the most part. Gregory
appears to also with his comment elsewhere about how its because people
will pay it. This largely makes me curious as to what Jay's answer is.
While there is a certain price range that most consumers will pay, too
much and they wont see the value, too little and they will perceive it
as inferior even if its not, this applies to almost all products so its
not a hardware or telephony related thing, instead a general marketing
thing. This probably does influence it a bit, although how its
marketed, to which group of consumers is what sets this range. I was
also led to believe that it was more of a telephony specific reason as
to why its so expensive though.
